The new edition of the Pirelli Calendar 2025 was unveiled by Inna Puhajková at the Casablanca Sky Bar in Prague. The premiere of the iconic work “Reconsideration and Revelation” by Ethan James Green celebrated both beauty and art.

Icon of Beauty comes to life again: the Pirelli 2025 Calendar presented in Prague

The Pirelli Calendar 2025, titled Reconsideration and Revelation and created by renowned American photographer Ethan James Green, was presented on December 4, 2024, in the iconic setting of the Casablanca Sky Bar in Prague. This 51st edition returns to the celebration of the natural beauty of the human body and once again reaffirms the Pirelli Calendar’s reputation as a unique work of art and a cultural icon.

The world premiere of the calendar took place on November 11 in London. In Prague, it was officially unveiled by presenter Inna Puhajková. “The Pirelli Calendar is not just art – it is a story of beauty and courage,” she said during the Czech presentation.

ART FROM MIAMI TO PRAGUE

The photographs were taken on the historic beaches of Virginia Key Beach Park in Miami. Ethan James Green captured actresses, models, artists, and singers from around the world, including Hunter Schafer, Padma Lakshmi, Vincent Cassel, Simone Ashley, and South Korean actress Hoyeon. Remarkably, the photographer himself appears in one of the images — a rare occurrence in the calendar’s history.

The only person I could photograph completely nude was myself,” Green remarked, emphasizing his willingness to bring a personal dimension and an authentic message to the calendar.

A CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY AND COLLABORATION

Our ideas of beauty have broadened and continue to evolve,” explains Green. “I wanted to capture contemporary beauty and present it through the Pirelli Calendar, which has been celebrating it for more than six decades. The title “Reconsideration and Revelation” refers to a return to the calendar’s roots and to celebrating the body in new ways that reflect the present time.”

AESTHETIC DIVERSITY AND THE TEAM BEHIND THE LENS

Each of the twelve models was captured in two versions – one in black and white and one in color. This approach allows for a deeper visual and emotional connection with the viewer while also reflecting Green’s ability to work across various media. A number of renowned professionals contributed to the creation of the calendar, including fashion director Tonne Goodman. “The main challenge was to showcase the beauty of the body in a way that combines elegance with courage and openness,” Goodman explains.

LOCATION AND CHALLENGES OF THE SHOOT

The photoshoot took place in May and June. While May offered clear skies, the June rains brought added dynamism and greater variety to the final images. Green emphasizes that the unique atmosphere of the location and the natural conditions helped capture the authenticity of each portrait.

INSPIRED BY THE PAST

Green drew primary inspiration from the iconic calendars of Richard Avedon and Herb Ritts from the 1990s, which captured the timeless beauty of models. “I wanted to create something that would still be relevant 20 years from now and become a legacy for future generations,” says Green. This edition pays tribute to the original philosophy of the Pirelli Calendar – the celebration of the natural beauty of the human body.

AUCTION AND CHARITABLE SUPPORT

For over 20 years, the Pirelli Calendar has been contributing to charitable causes in the Czech Republic. This year, one of its copies will once again be auctioned off in a benefit online auction, taking place on December 10 on the news portal iDNES.cz.

Charity auctions of the prestigious Pirelli Calendars have been connected with the iDNES.cz portal since 1992, and nearly CZK 5 million has been raised so far to support cancer patients. We believe that even in these economically challenging times, our bidders will show their goodwill and help us raise the necessary amount. We thank everyone in advance who actively participates in the auction,” says Miloslava Nováková, Corporate Affairs Director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia at the MAFRA media group.

Anyone who wishes to support a good cause can take part in the auction. The proceeds will go toward supporting the Masaryk Oncology Institute in Brno, where they will be used to develop top-quality equipment and improve patient care in the long term.

We thank Pirelli for its long-term cooperation, which significantly contributes each year to improving the services we provide to our patients,” says Klára Jirkovská, spokesperson for the Masaryk Oncology Institute.

The proceeds from this year’s auction will be specifically used to fund virtual reality headsets for oncology patients. These headsets will become part of the equipment in a newly established, modern educational and information center within the Center for Innovative and Supportive Care at the Masaryk Oncology Institute. The VR headsets will be used not only within the center itself but also across other departments of the hospital.

We are currently collaborating with Tomas Bata University in Zlín on the development of a VR application for these headsets, but we lack the necessary hardware – the headsets themselves and related technology. Virtual reality will significantly enhance patient education and help them better understand their treatment. In the future, we would also like to use the headsets for visitors of the upcoming Prevention Center to help them better comprehend the purpose of screening examinations. If the auction raises enough, we also plan to partially use the funds to purchase anti-decubitus mattresses, which improve patient comfort and help prevent pressure ulcers and related health complications,” adds Jirkovská.

So far, more than CZK 4.8 million has been raised through this initiative. The proceeds have supported top-quality hospital equipment and helped improve patient treatment.
