Timeless elegance, festive atmosphere and friendship that spans over generations. Rotary celebrated its 100th anniversary in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the prestigious premises of Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle, under the auspices of President Petr Pavel.

A morning in the spirit of history and values

The Imperial Hall of Lobkowicz Palace was transformed into a dignified forum where the past and future were symbolically connected. Speeches by governors and diplomatic guests recalled the dramatic journey of Rotary in our countries – from the golden era of the First Republic through the period of Nazi and communist persecution to its modern restoration. Those present appreciated that the ideals of service and friendship have endured despite all obstacles.

The topic of ethics and responsibility in modern busi-
ness was also raised. The discussion stressed that in the age of artificial intelligence and global challenges, the Rotary ethic is more important than ever. The morning programme symbolically culminated in the signing of the Declaration of Cooperation between Rotary and the Czech Management Association.

Gala evening with elegant style

The evening was a celebration worthy of such a significant anniversary. Guests in elegant gowns and dinner jackets gathered in the historic lounges for a welcome drink. The event masterfully blended art and gastronomy – young musicians and singers accompanied the gala dinner and a charity auction reminded us that service to the community remains a firm pillar of Rotary.

The formal part of the evening was followed by wine tasting, dance performances and a chance to see the museum exhibitions of Lobkowicz Palace. The jazz orchestra then rocked the floor and created an atmosphere of joy and friendly encounters.

A legacy for the next century

The centenary event was not merely a look-back but, above all, a confirmation of a living tradition that looks forward. Rotary enters the next century with a clear vision – to be a bridge between tradition and innovation, between the local and the global, between individual success and community service.
