Michaela Badinková on modern radiofrequency, which changes the rules of the skin rejuvenation game
Saša, I invited you here because I know you’ve been specializing in non-invasive skincare for 15 years. I personally prefer gentle rejuvenating methods. Is there any non-invasive technology today that can truly slow down aging?
Míša, thank you for having me. I’ve been observing and working with radiofrequency technologies for a long time, and in general, they are among the safest, most thoroughly developed, and tested methods out there. However, their recent leap in effectiveness has been quite remarkable. Once you see the amazing results they can deliver, it’s easy to understand why so many well-known actresses look youthful and natural on the red carpet—even past the age of fifty.
How does this method actually work?
Rejuvenation using radiofrequency works by targeted remodeling of collagen fibers and stimulating the production of new ones. In practice, there is now a wide range of devices that use this technology with varying degrees of success. They may differ significantly in effectiveness, performance targeting, depth of penetration, frequency, and the polarity of applicators — all of which influence the result. Newer devices do not damage or burden surrounding tissue. Recently, there has also been a major technological leap in chip development, increasing the efficiency of subdermal stimulation. Today’s most advanced radiofrequency devices are globally regarded as the absolute top of what one can treat themselves to.

The age of 50 was mentioned, but when is actually the right time to start with radiofrequency? Does such treatment still make sense for me if I’m already noticing signs of aging and wrinkles?
It will have a significant benefit. Our body retains the ability to regenerate throughout life. Even at an older age, for example, a small cut on your finger will still heal — it just takes a bit longer. Radiofrequency stimulation of collagen always triggers the creation of new collagen fibers that the body would no longer produce on its own. As we age, the collagen network naturally weakens, resulting in wrinkles and sagging skin.
Ideally, treatment should begin before these changes appear, to slow the aging process as early as possible.
However, radiofrequency is especially beneficial in more mature years, when people become more aware of changes in their skin. Fortunately, this doesn’t mean it’s too late — on the contrary, the most surprising results I’ve seen have been in older clients, where the transformation was the most noticeable.
If I decided to try the procedure, would it need to be repeated, and how soon would I see results?
Repeating the procedure is not necessary – even a single treatment has positive health and aesthetic effects, as the stimulated collagen regenerates. However, each additional radiofrequency session further supports the production of new collagen fibers, which interweave and form a stronger, denser, and more resilient network – similar to the one we had years ago. The results therefore build up over time, and the overall condition of the skin gradually improves. From my perspective, it’s one of the best long-term investments you can make in your skin.
It’s not just a visual effect, like with many other aesthetic methods. Radiofrequency truly improves the quality of the skin and restores its natural regenerative processes. As for when the results become visible, a noticeable improvement is often apparent immediately after the treatment. That’s why many well-known personalities schedule it right before important social events. This instant lifting effect is caused by the contraction of old collagen fibers. New collagen fibers then grow to full strength within approximately six months.
It sounds so tempting that I immediately wonder – is it possible to apply this method to the décolletage or other parts of the body?
Míša, absolutely – in fact, this method is widely used in body aesthetics. Modern radiofrequency technology is excellent for rejuvenating and tightening the skin on the neck, where there are otherwise very few effective anti-aging treatments. It’s also popular for the arms, the backs of the hands, and the abdomen – not only post-pregnancy. One special area worth mentioning is its benefit for the legs – among other reasons because radiofrequency helps strengthen blood vessel walls. The effect on both the appearance and condition of the legs is significant, not just for everyday women but also for those in professions where a flawless appearance is essential.
Is this procedure suitable for everyone, or are there any limitations?
There are some contraindications, such as serious illnesses or acute infections, and it also depends on the area being treated. It’s always important to discuss everything during a consultation and schedule the treatment accordingly. However, in general, it is a beneficial, gentle, and pleasant procedure that does not put strain on the body.
Speaking of who the treatment is suitable for, I’m wondering – do men use it too?
Yes, and actually in greater numbers than you might expect – both globally and here in our country. I believe what appeals to them is the scientific foundation of the method, its clear and visible benefits, as well as the natural results without the need for recovery time or any restrictions.
What type of men typically undergo such procedures?
This method is often chosen by men with very demanding careers – for example, managers or professional athletes. It helps them counteract the effects of stress, lack of sleep, and frequent time zone changes on their skin. When modern radiofrequency is combined with high-quality hyaluronic acid and complementary skincare, it can significantly improve the skin’s condition. I often see that both men and women in high-level positions and high-exposure professions need to look fresh, healthy, and youthful. It conveys strength and the ability to stay in control – something that enhances their negotiating power.
A healthy appearance is undoubtedly an essential part of our overall impression and even our outfit. With summer just around the corner and everyone excited to enjoy it to the fullest – can the benefits of radiofrequency be taken advantage of during this time?
Sun exposure is not an obstacle for non-invasive radiofrequency treatment. However, it’s important to remember that UV radiation damages collagen fibers, so we should protect our skin not only for health reasons but also for aesthetic ones.
That’s wonderful news – the ability to gently support your skin any time of the year is something almost every woman will appreciate. Saša, thank you so much for the kind and inspiring conversation. I believe it brought plenty of valuable insights not only to me but also to our readers.
